Congratulations to The Safe Center LI's education coordinator Elizabeth Osowiecki on her article in Newsday - she teaches lessons about consent to give power back to sexual assault survivors. Elizabeth is wonderful in her presentations to groups of students. Esther is proud to serve as vice president of the board of The Safe Center LI -- please follow and support their work.

As a previous winner of the Women's Jewelry Association's Excellence in Retail Award, Esther is at this year's Awards for Excellence gala in New York City to present the award to the 2017 winner. Fortunoff Jewelry and Esther's mother, Helene Fortunoff, were founding members of this historic association, which has worked tirelessly to support equality for women in the jewelry industry. Over 75 Long Island entrepreneurs met at the Microsoft Store at Roosevelt Field yesterday for a conversation about entrepreneurship. I was honored to share the stage with Andrew Hazen, co-founder and CEO of Angel Dough Ventures (speaking), and Jeffrey Rogers, e-commerce and small business finance expert at LiftForward. I learned so much from my fellow speakers, and the audience! Thanks to all in attendance.
Go all out this Christmas. It only comes once a year.
Esther was honored to lend #FortunoffJewelry support to Suffolk Aspergers/Autism Support & Information (SASI), a 501c3 non-profit that held its first SASI Blue Party on June 8 to raise money for this important cause. SASI was started in 2015 by two Long Island mothers, Priscilla Arena and Stephanie Mendelson, who both have children on the autism spectrum. They found a lack of resources for special needs families in the area and as a result, SASI was born. Click here for more info.
Here's Esther with Joan Axelrod-Siegelwax, president/CEO at EmPowered Possibilities Coaching; Gina Pirozzi, founder of G. Pirozzi Consulting; and Cynthia Metzger, director of corporate relations at Molloy College. The women were among the entrepreneurs attending Joan's talk on personal branding, as part of Molloy's 2017 The Conversation Series. Great event.

Did you know it was a woman who wrote "A Diamond Is Forever," the phrase honored in 1999 by Advertising Age as the slogan of the century? Yes, Frances Gerety, a pioneering, mid-20th century ad copywriter, penned the famous saying, after she was assigned to the De Beers diamond account at her ad agency. In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, we want to recognize Gerety, who surely had a tough road to walk as a woman in the very male advertising world of the time. #BeBoldForChange
