Garden friendly building - engineering idea to look at in class- Home Architecture by Ryue Nishizawa, Japan

Loving this garden house in Tokyo by Ryue Nishizawa. Greenery, space, great design - maybe too good!
A vertical urban garden. The botanical architecture trend and “grow your own food movement” has been an inspiration for Desso Designer Sheena Bennet to create a carpet collection which is entirely garden-infused.
"The House and Garden Building, Tokyo. Designed by Japanese architect Ryue Nishizawa. The house has no facade and no interior walls. Instead there are floor-to-ceiling windows, curtains and an array of plants that define boundaries between spaces. Private residence."
Garden and House by Ryue Nishizawa -- Located in a dense commercial district, the building provides a combined home and workplace for two writers. The site was just four metres wide, so Nishizawa designed a building that has only glass walls to avoid narrowing the interior spaces even further.

"Tokyo Garden and House": An infill between two larger buildings, this 5-story townhouse lets light into the 4 meter-wide site by employing glass walls throughout. Gardens (and curtains) for each room help screen the homeowners from the neighbors, while also providing green relief to an otherwise sterile commercial street. | Design: Ryue Nishizawa, SANAA (2013) Photo: Iwan Baan #tokyo #japan #architecture

In architecture, we laud the possible that looks impossible, the mind-bending sensation of looking at endless pools and the tallest skyscrapers. It’s beautiful design, made possible only by the latest science. Victor Enrich is a Spanish photographer who rips all the science from architecture to create surreal and whimsical variations on existing buildings. A tower unzips, a road goes straight up, and multi-story slides protrude from balconies. These buildings cannot possibly exist, but in a sense, they do. THE GOAL IS 'REALISM’ AND HIS BUILDINGS COME OFF AS REMARKABLY AUTHENTIC.“I guess it simply comes from the frustration of not being an architect, or a good architect,” Enrich tells Co.Design. “Since I was a kid I always wanted to be an architect, but actually I had no clue about what it really means to be an architect. This, I understood when it was too late … at the university, studying architecture.” Enrich starts with his own photos of actual places, then he spends a month digitally editing each shot. The goal is “realism,” and by working wholly from real-world building blocks, his buildings come off as remarkably authentic and, often, almost possible. Much of his work is a mere half step from plausible, which makes it so much fun to the eye. “Most architects respect the law 'form follows function’ … my 'buildings’ definitely don’t have an architectonic function … but they DO have other functions …” writes Enrich. That function is, more often than not, sly cultural commentary buried under a layer of Enrich’s sense of humor. He renders the Orchid Hotel of Tel Aviv with sprouting top floors, each in an arms race to have the best view. But, at a more visceral level, you feel like you’re looking at french fries--then look a bit closer, and you’ll spot the McDonald’s near the first floor. Yes, while we’re eating up his art, Enrich is calling all of us fat, along with our supersized cities. “If some day somebody makes buildings the way I paint them, I think that the world will have gone mad,” concedes Enrich. “I have never pretended to make architecture, just photography.” [Hat tip: Dezeen]

Wozoco Apartments (Amsterdam-Osdorp, Holland) A zoning law and blueprint flub were the inspiration for this apartment complex. Dutch housing regulations require apartment construction to provide a certain amount of daylight to their tenants–but MVRDV architects forgot to plan for that. Their solution? To hang thirteen of the 100 units off the north facade of the block. The ingenious design saves ground floor space and allows enough sunlight to enter the east or west facade.

Residents will even be given instruction for use. The architect's creation is based on a theory called "Reversible Destiny" which aims to change the mortal destiny of human beings through interaction with our surroundings. This innovative idea raises the question to the attitude of pursuing comfort blindly.

The cloud by MVRDV
Clouds, Building, Towers, Mvrdv, Seoul, Architecture, Design, South Korea
A Dutch architectural firm has proposed this residential building, called 'the Cloud', for South Korea. Critics say it looks like the Twin Towers exploding.
The Cloud, South Korea Dutch architecture firm MVRDV proposed a design for two high-rises in Korea that reminds people of the World Trade Center twin towers exploding on 9/11. A mockup shows two soaring skyscrapers connected in the middle by a “pixelated cloud” that evoked the clouds of debris that erupted from the iconic World Trade Center.
Do These Skyscrapers Look Like The Twin Towers Exploding? Dutch architects MVRDV describe a pair of luxury residential skyscrapers that they plan to build in South Korea as rising through a “pixelated cloud.” Others say the buildings look like the twin towers exploding on 9/11.
The unique architectural design of "The Cloud" by MVRDV December 10, 2011 At the height of about one hundred meters between the two Seoul skyscrapers planned to build a kind of bridge in the form of a multifunctional complex. Is it real, we can find out in the not too distant future
The agency MVRDV presented the controversial project "The Cloud". A building consisting of two towers connected in the middle by a "cloud of pixel" according to some evoking the Twin Towers. Planned for Yongsan district within the city of Seoul, here are more images in the future.
Seoul, South Korea The apartment complex towers, one with 54 floors and the other with 60, are designed by Dutch architects MVRDV and will be built at the entrance to Seoul’s redeveloped Yongsan business district by 2016. It strangely reminds me of the twin towers in New York. Creapy.
The controversial 'exploding twin towers' design by MVRDV (Seoul, South Korea) I'm in love with this building. Once you see the details, it no longer looks like the Twin Towers.
The new twin towers designed by Dutch Architecture firm MVRDV have an eery resemblance to the 9/11 attacks on New York City’s World Trade Center Towers. Named “The Cloud”, these towers should be completed in Seoul, South Korea by 2015. MVRDV denies any inspiration or connection to the World Trade Center Towers.
Netherlands-based architectural firm MVRDV recently revealed their controversial design for The Cloud, a new pair of residential skyscrapers to be built in Seoul, South Korea. The idea is based around two towers, one reaching 853 ft into the air while the other rising 984 ft. These towers are then connected at the 27th floor by a pixelated cloud that takes up 10 floors on each side and features restaurants, gyms, cafes, conference rooms, gardens and a lounge area. By now you may have been able to guess why this design has caused quite the stir. With its similarities to the 9/11 Twin Towers attack, many have expressed their outrage against the proposed building. MVRDV has released an apology on their site for anyone they may have been offended and says that "the design inspiration of The Cloud is visualized in the first image on our website, a cloud covering the centre of the Skyscraper." So far MVRDV is carrying through with the construction and an estimated completion date is somewhere in 2015.
