1920's open-sided tunic dress richly embellished with black beads and sequins in elegant patterns that flow in a rhythmic and textural display from the narrow, sleeveless shoulders to the flirty handkerchief-point hemline. Closely-spaced rows of black beads over the bodice break into airy whorls above densely layered, lush sequin flowers at the drop-waist. The fluid pattern is repeated below the waist to the bottom of the dress.

By the early 20th century dealers and collectors started using Louis XIV and XV style frames. Bright gold was deemed incompatible with the Van Gogh colors so most of the gold was rubbed off exposing the gesso below. Then an off white tone was washed over the frame. The practice of using old frames for new paintings was started in the late 19th century. Original frames or carefully crafted, gilded reproductions became the popular choice.
