Self-Watering Planter Beds - I have 3 of these on my uncovered back balcony. It gets really hot, so we don't sit out there. I grew pole beans (dry shelling) in them last year - just stuck bamboo stakes in the soil every 6 inches and let the beans do their thing. I added water to the containers once a week and had no other maintenance other than picking dry bean pods. Great crop in an otherwise wasted space. This year I will be doing Nightfall, Good Mother Stallard and Lingua di Fuoco soup beans.
