Jack Conkling writes that homosexuality 'ranks in God's eyes the same as murder, lying, stealing, or cheating'

Cardinal Keith O’Brien, the man that compared legalising gay marriage with bringing back slavery, has now warned parents Scottish schools will have to teach the validity of marriage equality.

Russia's embassy in London has issued a warning to parents about the risk of their children staying with 'gay families' during their placement at UK summer schools.

The version quoted, however, was the 1984 edition of the New International Version of the Bible which contains the phrase “homosexual offenders”. In that edition, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 reads: “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

The new Archbishop of Uganda has been announced as the Rt Rev Stanley Ntagali, who has spoken out against the death penalty for people convicted of homosexuality in the African state while also calling the sexual orientation “categorically unacceptable”.

The 'two-spirit' people of indigenous North Americans

Rather than emphasizing homosexuality many Native Americans focused on their spiritual gifts. American Indian traditionalists, even today, tend to see a person's basic character as a reflection of their spirit. Since everything that exists is thought to come from the spirit world, androgynous or transgender persons are seen as doubly blessed, having both the spirit of a man and the spirit of a woman. Thus, they are honoured for having two spirits.
