Formal Place Setting - OK... if this is an educational project, I would like to make proper dining etiquette a part of the education. So we would have PROPERLY set tables. Teach staff how to do it. This is an example with everything that might go on a table, but of course we ill not be that elaborate. I would love to have real napkins, salad fork, dinner fork, knife and spoon be a part of the standard setting, and then teach waitstaff where to place the coffee/water/wine glasses.

Table setting formal or not? by b-festive: You can omit the wine glasses for juice instead. You can also omit the place cards if it's unassigned seating, but having place cards gives a more formal feel to your event. #Table_Setting

@carolegravley I agree. I remember my Grandmother painstakingly teaching me this when I was a young girl! It's sad how uncultured we've become as a society, especially here in the states.

This guide is fantastic. I have been trying to explain how to set a correct placement and now I have proof. The other ladies in my family will believe Jane Wang.
