Chanticleer is a public garden just outside of Philadelphia. The landscaping is artful, imaginative and inspired. It isn't a curated garden where every plant has a label, but it is beautiful and a marvelous stage for plants. I've been to public gardens all over the world and Chanticleer is among my favorites.

This 12,000-square-foot cutting garden features several varieties of peonies, hollyhocks, chrysanthemums, and other flowers. #gardening

In the teacup garden this year at Chanticleer, the planting includes agaves, grasses, and palms.

Accentuate the Positive ... DO NOT be afraid to be bold! .. This medley includes the bananas Musa ‘Siam Ruby’ and Ensete ventricosum ‘Maurelii,’ Brugmansia ‘Charles Grimaldi,’ and Echium candicans ‘Select Blue.’ The orange-leaf plant is Solenostemon scutellarioides, and the bromeliad in front of the ensete is Vriesea ospinae var. gruberi.

The gravel garden’s spring display pairs Greigii tulip ‘Eastern Surprise’ with Muscari ‘Valerie Finnis.’
