Oven burners. I used some velcro to attach them to the wall and they make an instant station activity. My kids are using them to sort magnetic letters by their features (circles/curves, sticks, both, dots, etc.). Later in the year they could probably build some of our sight words on them with magnetic letters

I made this sight word rubbings activity for my son to help get him ready for kindergarten. He loves to practice sight words when we do this. This is a wonderful activity to learn letters, numbers, or for a child learning to write their name. It is great fun! :) http://doingsplendid.com
