There is a great sense of dignity and inner peace conveyed by each and every one of the Sadhu portraits...

“Samburu Warrior”. A young warrior of the Samburu Tribe in Kenya in his striking traditional clothing. Strong, proud, confident, fierce, stoic. He was absolutely exquisite. Location: South Horr, Kenya. (Photo and caption by Tierney Farrell/National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest)

Maybe that is why you seem to live more vividly in Africa...life here is amplified by its constant proximity to death. People love harder here... ~From Peter Godwin, "When a Crocodile Eats the Sun: A Memoir of Africa" (paraphrased)

yagazieemezi:  ”Sometimes a Surma man will paint the girl to whom he is attracted. This provides an excellent opportunity not only to perfect his painting technique but also to get to know the woman of his desire. This man uses a stalk of green grass to apply paint made from pulverized leaves mixed with chalk and water” | Image and caption  ”Painted Bodies” by Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher

As this bird takes flight so do are hopes and dreams with it. Descending towards the heavens bringing messages back and forth. Threw the trees so icy cool the scene captivates ones mind and you escape to another world.

There is a great sense of dignity and inner peace conveyed by each and every one of the Sadhu portraits...
