North Carolina fall colors: mid- to late- October is traditionally the best time to catch mountain fall colors with the higher elevations starting the earliest. Many festivals coincide with the fall colors, and it's always a great time for a wine tour at one of NC's 130+ wineries. #GottoBeNC

One of the most exciting things I have ever seen was a great horned owl in the woods while out on an Autumn drive. We stopped the car, got out and watched until several minutes later he flew away silently through the trees. I will never forget it.
