Welcome to Week 2 of the Diggin' Into Next Year Series hosted by Laura from Where the Magic Happens. Organize Math Workshop Today, I wanted to share a helpful tip for organizing those manipulatives that are always nice to have close by. I purchased a set of Sterilite tubs similar to this one and created math help buckets. This is a great time saver during math workshop time because my lil' pups can easily grab all the supplies that they need and get back to their learning. Here is a closer look at a few of the items in the tubs. The little containers with tens and ones are old cassette cases that another teacher at my school was throwing away. Once I have taught my lil' pups how to use a certain manipulative or tool, I add it to the math help tubs and it stays there for the rest of the year. I am always looking for ways to improve my instructional methods. Pinterest has become one of my favorite ways to locate new ideas. Here are a couple of ideas that I plan to implement in the fall. Click on Image to See Pin & Original Source I love this comprehensive list of helpful manipulatives. I believe you can never have too much hands on learning so I will be looking for some of these items to add to my math help tubs. Click on Image to See Pin & Original Source I have a huge collection of books in my classroom, but not near as many as I would like that are related to math concepts. I love this list of books to match each concept. I will be on the lookout for these books this summer. Picture Only on Pinterest I also want to incorporate a more comprehensive daily number activity....maybe something like this? This picture does not have a link with it....so if it is yours I would love to know so that I can give proper credit. Be sure to check back next week and take a look at the great tips for behavior management.
