this creepy photo is of doctors-- masks worn by them during the Plague. The beaks held scented substances.

Masks worn by doctors during the Plague. The protective suit of the plague doctor consisted of a heavy fabric overcoat that was waxed, a mask with glass eye openings and a cone nose shaped like a beak to hold scented substances and straw. Freaking creepy as hell.

I remember learning about this in my history class's plague art unit: Plague Masks -doctors used to wear these thinking that they protected them from contracting the disease.

Good Plague Doctor pictures are becoming more scarce, though I'm still managing to find a few, like this one. Reminiscent to the ravens who were said to be their animal form.

This is actually a mask the Doctors wore so as not to contract fatal diseases back in Victorian era
