Even as an adult, I can still remember the shocking art of Stephen Gammell. From the "Scary Stories" books I read as a kid. I just found out they republished the series after thirty years -- and they replaced all the illustrations. Nothing can replace these ever memorable images I grew up with.
What can I possibly say about this book? It's one of the best stories and most well-written books ever. Bradbury, as always, relied heavily on his reader's information to fill in the gaps, and usually, I find that sloppy writing, but with this--with this story--it works; like a haunting nightmare hovering on the edge of your memory. Ah, great stories and fantastic writing make me swoon :D
I love this book. I remember Grandpa reading it to me when I was sick, scared and felt lost. My copy of this is a little worn, but I hope to pass it down to my grandchildren one day.
Heidi-always felt sorry for her in the part of the story where she has to go live in the city
