This is a rare meteorological phenomenon called a skypunch. Ice crystals form above the high-altitude cirro-cumulo-stratus clouds, then fall downward, punching a hole in the cloud cover. Freakishly weird!

I cannot tell if the colors in this picture contains a filter of some sort, but if it does I really like it. I like the darkness that turn in to light as the road continues. Also the clouds that consume the mountains have the perfect shade of white. - wow
