Spelling word practice. If we used a board like this, it would save us from having to photocopy those packets every week. We'd be able to do just a front & back page for vocab list and spelling list instead.(And plus, these activities are way more fun than the current ones we assign.)

Words Their Way Ideas for independent work. Also teacher explains how she organizes words their way work into her 5 days of rotation Reading Group time. GREAT ideas!

Nancy Vandenberge's printables: First Grade Wow: Daily Five Word Work Choice - Click on the link for her blackline masters. Wonderful stuff!

Artic Therapy - Maybe I could give the kiddos letters that they have to scramble into words with their sounds. Possibly more fun than drill from a word list?

Kind of in love with this menu!! It has some great options for practicing spelling that are more creative and fun than just writing the words 3 times (which I still think is good practice, but these really make more meaning of the words or are good to do after spelling drills as stations)

I like this extension for my word of the week...I use the word of the week for my transitions, this would be a good addition.

Creating this into a worksheet might be something kids can grab for when they are done with work. Besides read a book of course! Or it could be used with dictionary practice to verify the words they write are really words!

Great Daily 5/reading center ideas--will have to try out next year with a lil modification of course
