A late 1800s Irish Killarney ware box. Decorated shamrocks, trailing ferns and Muckross abbey in penwork on the lid.Inlaid pannels on the front, using arbutus wood which was used extensively in this area for Killarney Ware. It has the appearance of yew wood and is often misdescribed. The shrub seemed to thrive in the Killarney Lakes area and hence was used for the souvenir woodenware.
