Back to School ABC Order {Primary Edition}

It's back to school time!! Practice without pressure! If you are introducing the concept of ABC Order for the first time, this product is a great way to expose primary students to the concept of alphabetical order while teaching them school-related vocabulary. This is a great time of the year to introduce ABC Order to First Graders. At my school, ABC Order is a part of our weekly Spelling homework assignments. This will provide wonderful, in-class practice for my students. These activities may also work well as an acceleration/extension for those Kinders that enter Kindergarten already demonstrating strong reading readiness skills or that are already reading independently. Each page features 5 vocabulary words for students to read and organize in alphabetical order. The large font and box size provide ease for reading, and ease of cutting for little hands. There is also an “Alphabet Guide” listed at the bottom of the page to offer support to students that need it. A pair of scissors is in place to cue students of where to begin cutting. *Note- Have students cut across the page, above the alphabet strip, so that the strip can remain in tact for their use.* *Your purchase includes 4 ABC order activities. This will provide you with 4 weeks worth of Literacy activities, if you like. I have included both color and black and white versions. You have the option of saving your ink, or of printing fun and attention-catching activities. Using one colored activity as an introduction would be a great way to grab your students' attention right away and get them excited about the experience. The activities can be completed as a whole group activity, in a small group setting, or by students independently. **Suggestions for use: ~Whole Group as an introduction. *Project the page onto your whiteboard or complete the activity via a Docu' Camera. ~Small group instruction ~Independent Work for practice once the concept has been introduced and practiced ~Buddy Work ~With a Paraprofessional or parent volunteer ~Home-School Connection- Allow parents to see what skills their student is working on in school ~Print 2-5 color copies on cardstock, cut the words to be alphabetized off and laminate them to create an activity for Centers or Literacy Stations. For extension, have the students copy the words ABC order in a notebook or journal.
