Using a classroom jobs or classroom helpers system with your elementary students can create a positive and organized learning environment, reinforce classroom routines and procedures, develop responsibility and leadership skills, and foster a cooperative and inclusive classroom culture. 32 Classroom Jobs Included: (Each card is 2.25 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide) Alphabetizer Announcement Maker Backpack Monitor Board Cleaner Breakfast Helper Calendar Helper Chair Stacker Classroom Photographer Cleanup Crew Door Holder Gardener Germ Patrol Librarian Light Operator Line Leader Lunch Helper Mail Monitor Pet Helper Pledge Leader Recess Helper Messenger Materials Manager Paper Passer Pencil Patrol Recycling Manager Snacks Helper Sweeper Teacher Helper Technology Assistant Timekeeper Trash Collector Weather Reporter Extra Cards Sick Day Substitute Vacation (three options) Why are there extra cards? If you do not want to assign a job to every student every day/week or have students you know will be gone at certain times, you can give them “a vacation” for a day or week. For students who are unexpectedly absent, you can use the Sick Day card and if needed assign the Substitute card to another student to take their place. Or you can use the Substitute card in your regular rotation to automatically take over for any absent student. You can see a sample of these cards in the PREVIEW. Header Options If you are using a pocket chart you will likely need to choose from the shorter options. You can see an example in the PREVIEW. There are letters provided to spell out the following: JOBS HELPERS CLASS JOBS CLASS HELPERS CLASSROOM JOBS CLASSROOM HELPERS HELPING HANDS What if I need a job card that wasn’t included? If you have classroom jobs that have not been included, you can use the provided PowerPoint template slide to create additional cards that will match. You can take photos of something related to the job, insert them on the PowerPoint slide, and add your text. The font and size are included in the instructions. You can also use this template to insert text boxes and create student name cards to put next to the jobs in a pocket chart. *Another option for assigning classroom jobs, is to take and print photos of students and place one beside each job.
