Pierre-Jules Mêne (Paris, 1810-1879) is the most famous French animals sculptor with A. Barye. He did himself the foundry work as well as the chiseling for his sculptures.This model was exhibited for the first time at the very important 1859 salon in Paris under the exact name of " Djinn, Cheval a la Barriere". Gorgeous bronze quality with a superb dark brown patina. Signed on base "P.J. Mêne."
