check to make sure thermostat can take the amps of the (light/heater) you are wiring in place. If not (&the preferred method) is to use a relay. relay has 2sides, each is a switch. Larger amps side is for the load (whatever you are running) other side is thermostat. difference is thermostat circuit will power a small electromagnet (most common & cheapest type of relay) that closes the mechanical (internal) switch on the load side.
