In 2017, I spent three weeks in the South Pacific visiting every black pearl store I came across in Tahiti and the Cook Islands. This opened up a whole new world of jewelry to me. I learned so much about these pearls, including color, shape, imperfections and pricing. I bought quite a few average grade pearls, as once one gets into high grade pieces the price skyrockets, easily going into the thousands for just a single pearl! In any case, this is NOT a Tahitian pearl, but now that I love pearls, I acquired a few of these awesome Keshi pearls. These pearls are cultured, and grow without a nucleus. In this case, slices of donor tissue are carefully injected creating very interesting shapes.
