This is a great way to have some fun while reviewing Spanish 1 concepts and vocabulary! First, you create a Mad-libs story as a class, so they understand the directions and become excited to make their own stories. Next, students sit with a partner, and each one holds a different Mad-libs story. Person A reads the list of needed words on one version, while Partner B comes up with an idea for each needed word. Partner A writes these down and reads the final product. The partners then switch roles to create the other story. Students often want to share their stories, so feel free to finish by having volunteers read their story out loud. You could also have students display the favorite story from their group on a bulletin board, or have students translate their stories into English on the back of the sheet as homework. This product includes detailed teacher instructions, a short story for you to create as a class, and two different stories for students to create. I have used these stories in three different schools that each had a different curriculum, and it has worked well each time as an end-of-the-year review. Students will need to be able to name some infinitive verbs, colors, numbers, personality adjectives, appearance adjectives, and objects. Currently, I teach it during the Realidades 5B chapter, since it asks for adjectives to describe someone's appearance. I hope your students enjoy this activity and are proud of their stories!
