How are the waves? When’s the next swell? Did you get out in the water today? Coastal communities know this as stoke – living and breathing the love of the ocean. Whether you surf the waves or just admire them from afar, knit the Stoke Toque and spread the stoke. Stoke Toque begins at the brim with 2-color ribbing then moves to a stockinette body with periodic garter ridges which are charted alongside the colorwork. This hat features stranded knitting using only two colors per row and makes a slightly slouchy hat. Picture shows large hat on 22”/57cm head. ……………………………………………………………………………… Gauge per 4in/10cm in stranded stockinette stitch, blocked: Small - 22sts x 27rows Medium - 20sts x 25rows Large - 19sts x 24rows Finished dimensions and fit, 1-3”/2.5-5cm negative ease: Small - 18”/46cm x 8.5”/21.5cm (fits 19-21”/49-53cm) Medium - 19”/48cm x 9.25”/23.5cm (fits 20-22”/51-57cm) Large - 20”/51cm x 9.5”/24cm (fits 21-24”/53-61cm) Techniques: Knitting in the round, stranded knitting 2 colors per round, corrugated rib (option to work standard ribbing), working from a chart Skill level: Adventurous beginner or intermediate Yardage/weight estimates for largest size: MC (light brown in sample) - 70yds/35g CC1 (rib & crown) - 22yds/11g CC2 (peerie background) - 14yds/7g CC3 (sky) - 22yds/11g CC4 (wave) - 20yds/10g Notes: Crown decreases are written and charted.
