Pies and tarts don't always have to be sweet. This savory rustic tart matches Broccolini, a natural hybrid of broccoli and Chinese kale, with salty feta for a delicious meal wrapped in a pretty package.

DIY Menu Board: Gilt frame surrounds a chalkboard. Inexpensive and easy to make!

  • Joy Phillips Materne Buikema

What a cute cute idea. Thank you ever so kindly. I am making a cut out of a violin that my brother Rick Phillips gave me into a chalk board. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

  • Susanna Rivera

My daughter made it for me for my birthday! You can also do it on an old serving plater.

  • Beth Goodreau

Pretty but too much work for me! I'm a terror with a paint brush! Find a frame already done at Goodwill. Keep the back part from the frame. Purchase chalk vinyl (very durable) peel and stick no mess no painting no waiting, same results. Done!

  • Susanna Rivera

That sounds great. I like the painting it's therapy for me. I do like your idea though. My niece told me about that as well.

    Great Idea For unused frames.

Thanksgiving Decorations Banner Gobble Gobble by BannerCheerJR, $26.00

This rich, full-flavored stuffing is a show stealer, whether stuffed in a turkey or baked on its own. For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth and substitute vegetarian sausage or a few cups cooked shiitake mushrooms for the meat sausage.

Can you do this without chick peas??

  • Joyce Oxfeld

I think chick peas are the greatest. Try some humus, ( pureed chickpea) if you don't believe me. That comes in many varieties that are still vegan. Best snack and side dish ever.

  • Lindsay Bochenek

Oh i like them, i just don't have any lol

  • Shrinking On A Budget Meal Plans

You could definitely leave out the chick peas if you don't have them. Although I think they would add a nice textural element, you've got the protein already covered with the pecans. I'm just looking at the nutritional profile of this salad and it could almost be a light meat-free entree.

  • Keralee Latham

Try white beans or black beans for hummus. It's a nice change! Both work very well in place of chickpeas :)

Soy Milk Pumpkin Pie |

  • Jeanne Harrison

I make my pumpkin pie with coconut milk because my son is highly allergic to dairy. It comes out great and most people have no idea it isn't made with evaporated milk.

i wonder if rice milk would work

  • Paula Lumpylegs

Watch the soy...Used to be a vegan (no animal products) and ate soy everything (milk, cheese, ice cream, marjarine, etc)...wound up with SEVERE Thyroid Disease-I now need high dose meds and I'm still exhausted ALL the time!!! No one knew about this in the 80's-90's, NOW I'm paying for my HEALTHY lifestyle!!! GOD Bless!!!

  • Cherie de Paris

Drink almond milk or coconut milk or rice milk instead. (yes avoid soy, it just isn't good for your health and it is carcinogenic too!).
