Subsea Energy Storage Block Diagram. Using Water Pressure at the Bottom of the Ocean to Store Energy. Norwegian research scientists are now working on the concept of storing electricity at the bottom of the sea. The energy will be stored with the help of high water pressure. It’s a new idea invented by a German engineer who has spent much of his professional life working in aerospace technology.

Biggest offshore wind farm in the world, The London Array, began construction in 2009 and this month officially open! The London Array in the Thames Estuary of the United Kingdom consists of 175 wind turbines. Phase 1, now complete, is generating 630MW of power for the UK. Ceremoniously, the London Array ribbon was cut by Prime Minister David Cameron, alongside Greg Barker the climate change minister, on July 4, 2013. http://www.thevoltreport.com/biggest-offshore-wind-farm-fires-up-in-the-uk/

In the proposed hydrokinetic energy transfer system, the flow of water current causes turbine blades to rotate. The rotor's rotational speed is increased through a gearbox, which drives a high-pressure fluid pump. The high-pressure fluid would be transported though flexible tubes to a larger pipe and then to an efficient, onshore hydroelectric power plant.
