Moscow. Communal interior designed in the 1930's. The photo was taken in 2007 by Richard Pare with project funding from the Graham Foundation. The light filtering into the warm, dark interior reflects off the small objects of daily life and speaks of the people that called this room home.

Beryl White's bedroom at the Residency in Sikkim India, taken by Beryl White between 1901 & 1903–obviously a much grander residency than most of us think of as home. However, the intimacy of the objects and photographs cluttering the mantel and wall speaks of this space being very much home to an English woman living far from home.
