Tea tree, citronella, peppermint, lavender, cinnamon, citrus and rose oils will kill spiders and other insects on contact. Mix up to five drops of oil and a teaspoon of dish soap into a one-quart spray bottle. Fill the bottle the rest of the way with water then spray any spiders or insects you find in and around your home. Spiders use small glands on their legs to taste and don't like the taste so spray anywhere they might lurk for an effective repellent.
