DIY Tip of the Day: Skip Taping, Use Blinds. Slats from an old Venetian blind work great for shielding trim from paint. Cut the strings to free the slats, then tape the string holes in the slats so paint can’t leak through. To use, press the slat firmly along the junction of the wall and trim. Bring several slats to the job and use fresh ones as needed. Thanks to reader Carl Brinnel for this blindingly bright tip.
