Giant Log Cabin Jelly Roll Quilt

I have a confession to make. This is the first project I've made with a pre-cut that wasn't a charm pack or fat quarter/eighth bundle! In late 2013, I picked up a Carolyn Friedlander Botanics roll-up, my first (and only) jelly roll. I know there are tons of jelly roll patterns and ideas out there, but I just never felt particularly inspired to use it. Until now! Earlier this year, Jacey stitched up a big log cabin baby quilt. I loved the sweet and simple design, and knew it was perfect for…

scattered showers quilt and pattern

As I mentioned last week, I finished my scattered showers quilt! (Sorry about the teaser photo in my post last Friday...I really hated to do that, but this quilt is too special to post without decent photos.) My original intention for this quilt was to use up little white scraps. Let's ignore the fact that it took about 5 yards of background fabric to use up the equivalent of 1/3 of a yard of white scraps. (Hahahaha! Welcome to my world!) I do love this quilt and how it turned out, even if…

Ombre Stars (mini quilt swap)

A few months ago the other ladies in the Blue Moon Quilters group (Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl, Afton at Quilting Mod, Sara at Blue Quail Studios) and I decided to do a swap using the V and C Ombre fabrics. We were inspired by a swap we saw happening on Instagram, but wanted a smaller group to swap with. Smaller groups seem to have better results in terms of quality and each person taking responsibility for their part in the swap (at least in my experience, but I do know many people have had…

Blogger's Quilt Festival - Rainbow Bargello

It's time for the Blogger's Quilt Festival! I am entering my Rainbow Bargello quilt into the ROYGBIV Quilt Category. This is a twin sized quilt. It's make from all Kona Cotton solids - 44 different colors. I quilted it with a gray thread in a meandering pattern. It has such great texture and vibrant color! For the back I used a black and white crosshatch that appears gray. I added a rainbow strip to the back just because I can! I love to piece my backs even if it is a little more work. I…

Rectangular Logcabin Wall Quilt

Happy Friday! Today I want to share a fun all solids wall quilt that I made this Summer! RJR Fabrics approached me about participating in the What Shade Are You? blog hop, and I was excited to join in! I’ll be honest though, I was a little intimidated to work with just solids. It’s definitely outside my comfort zone, but I was excited to take on the challenge. I have been itching lately to work with log cabin blocks, and I’ve had this particular design tucked away for a while. It’s been…

Scraps Go Round - An Improv Log Cabin Style Quilt — Cheryl Arkison

Those early mornings sessions are totally paying off. Number one, for my mental health. Number two, for quilt productivity. A few years after starting these blocks are finished and the quilt top done! (I've also finished the blocks for another top already and have been working on some snippets now.

Symposium Quilts

I thought it would be nice to share a few of the quilts on display at Symposium that particularly caught my eye. None of these were made by me - the name of the quilt and the maker is below each photo. This quilt was being raffled off - it didn't have a name but was beautifully quilted by Paula Shailer This quilt won Best of Show - it's called Is it Art? and is by Melanie Martin Off the Floor #1 by Gael O'Donnell Sparrows in my Garden by Griet Lombard Conquering Christchurch by Sophie Wood…

Flow {A Finished Quilt}

Wow, it's been a long, long time since I've shared a quilt finish in this space! It's nice to be back - and I have several quilts and quilt tops I finished toward the end of last year that I'm hoping to share over the next few weeks. The first two I'll be showing you were made essentially in secret - that is, I resisted my usual tendency to completely overshare what I'm working on. The main reason for this was that both of these were made specifically for the challenge categories for…
