Earthbag construction is an inexpensive method used to build strong, stable structures, using primarily locally available materials. It evolved from military bunker construction techniques. Earthbag construction requires only very basic materials: woven polypropylene sacks, on site fill material, water to moisten the fill material so it can be shaped, and four-pronged barbed wire for reinforcent. It can be used to construct emergency shelters, or in dry climates to create permanent housing.

Whatever you call it, it is earthquake resistant, flood resistant, hurricane resistant, fire resistant and termite proof ... perhaps a little paint ... perhaps a good technique for a chicken coop ...
