Use in replace of massage oil Consuming Coconut Oil while nursing is said to increase your milk flow Apply to bug bites to sooth itch and sting If you happen to get nose bleeds in the winter, coat the inside of your nose with a small amount. It is said that taking a spoonful will help reduce and eliminate migraines Massage into tired, achy or sore muscles to help relieve the pain Mix a small amount with oregano and apply to the first signs of a cold sore Dab on a canker sore to speed up heeling and help soothe the pain Ingest a small amount and let it dissolve in your mouth and run down the back of your throat to ease the discomfort of a sore throat Beauty: Use as a super conditioner for your hair. Apply to dry hair, then shampoo as normal. You can also use it as a styling agent for dry hair. Rub a small amount into your palms and apply to hair. Put some in a small container to use as lip balm. Dab a small amount under your arms to use as a natural deodorant. DIY: Use it as a base for a homemade body scrub, toothpaste or lotion. In addition, you can also use Coconut Oil as a base for a vapor rub. Try mixing it with lemon balm, tea tree oil or rosemary for creating an insect repellent Use instead of WD-40 Mix with baking soda to create a non-toxic form of Goo-Gone Use as a metal polish, however, test a small area first. Also use it to season cast iron pans Use to remove chewing gum from the bottom of your shoes Home: Use to condition your wooden cutting boards Use as a leather moisturizer. However, test a small area first! If you have gum stuck in your hair and before grabbing the scissors, try using a small amount of coconut oil. the gum should come right out. Use as a guitar string lubricant Use a little on a damp cloth to clean a slimy shower. Wipe the surface again with more oil followed by spraying with vinegar and wipe dry I’ve read Coconut Oil works as a non-toxic flea treatment for cats and dogs Use on artificial or real plants to shine leaves in replace of the chemical-filled spray that can be purchased. Add a small amount to a cloth to detail the inside of your car Use to clean brushes and hands after painting with an oil-based paint Cooking: Replace the less healthy oils in your kitchen with Coconut oil Add a teaspoonful to smoothies to help add flavor and added nutrition. Use to oil your pans and baking dishes instead of pan spray Put a small amount on toast and add cinnamon for a healthy cinnamon toast Use as a base for homemade candy, such as chocolates. Mix with garlic and use it to make food extra flavorful Add a teaspoonful to soup for added nutrition Add flavor to baked goods Make your own peanut butter with the base being Coconut Oil Use to lubricate scissors when cutting up sticky things such as marshmallows for recipes Use instead of shortening when making pie crusts or biscuits
Coconut oil uses: paired with a little baking soda as a cleanser/scrub, face moisturizer, hair mask, lip balm, makeup remover, hand moisturizer....

Freezing buttermilk or heavy cream cubes for cooking. Freeze in ice cube trays, then store in freezer bags. Such a great idea!
Freeze Leftover Buttermilk or Heavy Cream or Half & Half. Know how a recipe calls for a small amount of buttermilk and the rest, sometimes, goes to waste? Pour it into ice cube trays and pop it in the freezer. One quart fills 3 trays with 2 T. of buttermilk in each cube.Bag up in freezer bags, these should stay fresh for up to 3 months (be sure to date your bags). Next time you need buttermilk, there it is.
Freezing buttermilk or heavy cream cubes for cooking. I never use a whole carton nor do I have in stock when a recipe calls for a bit! Also works with herbs - just pop in ice cube trays, cover with water, freeze, and store!

How to Remove Scratch Marks from Dishes with Bar Keepers Friend -- I wonder if this will work on my kitchen sink
How to remove scratch marks from dishes, and other cleaning tips.
How to Remove Scratch Marks from Dishes Almost 18 years ago, as a wedding gift, I got simple, plain white dishes. I love them. They go with all of the plain white serving platters and bowls I've collected over the years. For the last 10 years, they've been covered in scratch marks from my silverware. I tried scrubbing them with baking soda like Heloise said I should. Nothing. I tried the Magic Eraser. Not so magical. I was ready to buy new dishes. I decided to stop in at our local Ace Hardware. The helpful clerk suggested I try Barkeepers Friend. I applied the Liquid Bar Keepers Friend with a damp sponge and a little elbow grease. For the really tough scratches, I added a bit of the powdered version and applied a little more elbow grease. The results speak for themselves.

DIY BUTTERMILK-Lemon & Milk-In a 1-C measuring cup, add 1 Tbsp of fresh lemon juice. Top juice w/ milk. Stir & let sit for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, milk is both acidic & curdled. Yogurt & Milk-Mix 3/4 C plain yogurt w/ 1/4 C of milk. Stir & make a quick substitution. Milk & Cream of Tartar-Mix 1 C milk w/ 1 3/4 tsp cream of tartar. To ensure mix doesn’t get lumpy, mix cream of tartar w/ 2 Tbsp milk. Once mixed add remaining milk. The cream of tartar acid will help create the buttermilk.

Hopefully this will help keep fruit and veggies from going bad too early. Smart things here. I have practiced many of these most of my life. I will add Tomatoes. I do not refrigerate them ever. I have a hanging basket in the kitchen for my tomatoes and if I cut it I eat the entire tomato then and there. They act of chilling a whole or cut tomato sucks the flavor away immediately.

Helpful Cake Serving Size Chart, although I'm not sure this is what most wedding cake decorators go by.
This is not accurate for most wedding cake bakers. An 8" cake serves 15 servings of 1" wide x 2" long x 4" high (10" serves 30). WEDDING: If you are cutting cake away from guests, get a smaller decorative cake and a large sheet cake in back. Saves a TON of money. Guests will never know the difference.

The "dirty dozen & clean fifteen". Eating organic produce is very important, but can also get very costly. These lists are an excellent (general) reference to when you should really buy organic, and when it may not be so necessary, especially in a frugal lifestyle. Not to mention, some products don't even require pesticides so a company can hike up the price because yes, it's organic - but it would have been anyway.

To clean rust with a potato, cut it in half lengthwise or crosswise, depending on how large a surface area you want. Dip the cut end in dish soap or baking soda and firmly rub it over the rusted area. If the end of the potato gets slick, slice it off and apply more soap or abrasive. Repeat until rust is removed, rinse, and dry. The oxalic acid in the potato helps to dissolve rust.
