26 Books That Will Change The Way You See The World
Felix goes about his day interacting with different family and friends. He realizes that some are happy and some are sad. His grandfather explains we can impact others through our own kindness and they can in turn impact us. Using the bucket and dipper as a metaphor, Felix realizes that the way he relates to others not only affects others but his life as well! This picture book was taken from the original adult book and adapted for younger readers!

What Great Teachers Do Differently. Started reading = great book. Todd Whitaker. Notes: No sarcasm/yelling; respect all st. and see p.o.v.; do what you say; establish expectations from start (focus on expectations instead of rules); know subject in & out but also know st.; improve schools by improving teachers; PEOPLE not programs that determine the quality of a school; teachers must know how others see them & recognize need to improve; classroom management sets the stage for learning.

Bright Not Broken: Gifted Kids, ADHD, and Autism: Diane M. Kennedy, Rebecca S. Banks, Temple Grandin. The authors also have a radio podcast on the Coffee Klatch, available on iTunes.
Something for the book list... Bright Not Broken: Gifted Kids, ADHD, and Autism - the authors show what we can do to help 2e children, providing a whole child model for parents and educators to strengthen and develop a child's innate gifts while also intervening to support the deficits. Drawing on painstaking research and personal experience, Bright Not Broken offers groundbreaking insight and practical strategies to those seeking to help 2e kids achieve their full potential.
OT Reading List: Bright Not Broken: Gifted Kids, ADHD, and Autism
The talents of some of our most brilliant kids may never be recognized because these children fall into a group known as twice exceptional, or "2e". These kids are both gifted and diagnosed with a disability—often ADHD or an Autism Spectrum Disorder—leading teachers and parents to overlook the child's talents and focus solely on weaknesses. This book sheds light on this vibrant population, identifying who twice exceptional children are and taking an unflinching look at why they're stuck. | Book Cover Image for Bright Not Broken: Gifted Kids, ADHD, and Autism
