After an accident in the early 1900s, Joseph Poirier repaired his vehicle using sturdy wicker because metal was hard to get. This 1919 photo of Archie shows an ingenious repair that he & my grandpa made on Joseph’s car after an accident. Metal parts were scarce, pricey & grandpa was broke as a joke. So the men used their skill && imagination to replace part of the chassis with sturdy wicker. Grandma admired the craftsmanship & ingenuity but refused to ride in the car.
