The project was inspired by the fact that much of the world's food goes to waste — one-third, according to a 2011 United Nations estimate. The U.S. and Europe waste about 10 times as much food per person as sub-Saharan Africa or Southeast Asia, that report found. In the developing world, storage problems are the main culprit. But in developed countries, consumers throw out lots of food that is still perfectly edible.

Anyone who's ever run a business knows that hiring more people is a capitalists course of last resort, something we do only when increasing customer demand requires it. In this sense, calling ourselves job creators isn't just inaccurate, it's disingenuous.

rats <3 their cagemates. Seriously. Researchers at the University of Chicago have discovered that rats will altruistically and intentionally work to release cagemates held in a trap, and they'll do so even over the temptation of chocolate chips, and even when the rat would be released into a separate enclosure so they wouldn't get to play together. I miss our pet rats.

Rodents after it hits the fan… If SHTF just kill and dispose.. If TEOTWAWKI, trap and BBQ, they are popular in SE Asian countries. A healthy rat is just another mammal.
Rats have good memory and are considered to be one of the smartest species of rodents. Though often viewed as filthy, studies have shown that they are clean and show altruistic behaviour. Rats have soft bones enabling them to fit into small holes.
This photo is of a simple domesticated rat on a white background. In the past rats have not had a very good reputation as pets due to their sewer cousins. It makes me sad that people don't consider the fact that rats do make good pets, coming from a precious rat owner of two. They are very gentle small fuzzy animals. Being a rat advocate will always be apart of who I am. This is important for society to know and shrug off the myths that are behind having pet rats.
