"This Double Helix is a scientific model of B deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the most common form of DNA. DNA is a chemical carrier of our genes. It has an elegant geometric structure that allows it to store a massive amount of information. Every organism has its own DNA, and it is our DNA that makes each of us unique. Beads representing Phosphorus and Deoxyribose are 15 mm wide and multifaceted, and beads representing nitrogenous bases are oval and flat, 25 mmX20 mm."
Design firm SomeOne have created 21 DNA sculptures for Cancer Research UK, that have been customised by artists and designers from around the world. The sculptures are currently being displayed on the DNA Art Trail throughout London for ten weeks, before being auctioned at Christie’s in September.
A few years ago we were honored to complete a project for McLennan Community College. Weighing 3,200 pounds and standing more than 30 feet tall, this monstrous DNA replica is the largest in the state of Texas. Needless to say it wasn't easy to install. Designed and fabricated by Stanton Studios.
