Hang extension cord high using the simple suspension cable shown. The whole cord system slides back against the wall. Drive two screw eyes into a ceiling joist to hold the clothesline. Fasten the clothesline to one screw eye, slip the metal shower curtain rings over it, and attach the other end to the other screw eye. Space the rings along the clothesline as shown, slip the extension cord through the rings, and secure the cord to them with wire ties. —Buck Nall, Alma, Ga.

Anything that gives you more control when gluing is a good thing. These simple-to-build clamp bars, made of 2x4s, will keep clamps from tipping, and can be set up on a couple of sawhorses to free up space on your bench. Screw the two 2x4s together so you can cut the notches on both at the same time.

Kreg Tool Tip: Working with Different Board Thicknesses. When joining boards of two different thicknesses edge-to-edge or end-to-edge, set your Kreg Jig® according to the thickness of the thinner board. The picture shows a ½"-thick board and ¾"-thick board that were joined with pocket holes. As you can see, the Kreg Jig® was set for ½"-thick material, the thinner board. We've also included a helpful chart that shows which Kreg Jig® setting and screw length to use based on material thickness.

This is the magic weapon of coloring wood and other materials. I vastly prefer it mixed with alcohol rather than water. It is a bit spendy, but a tiny bit goes a very long way. You can under-dye a stain with it to get colors of antique furniture just right. Keep a wet leading edge to avoid streaks. Use a little rag, rather than a brush to get perfect results. The color is so much deeper and lush than other types of coloring.
