Basket Makers Oaxaca The women weaving these plaited palm baskets are from the Zapotec community of San Luis Amatlan, a small town near Miahuatlan, Oaxaca Mexico. They weave and sell their baskets at one of the entrances to the Benito Juarez market in Oaxaca. Plaited baskets are also woven by Mixtec women in the Tlaxiaco area of the Mixteca Alta.
