Solid silver bracelets made by the Hmong in this expandable style were popular with the Wa and Lawa, a minority hill tribe group of Southeast Asia. It is made from solid cast high grade silver (over 90%) with a bound split coil the contours of which have been smoothed over from wear.

This 19th century hill tribe bracelet is most likely Hmong, or possibly Mien (Yao) in origin since this design was popular with both hill tribe groups. Time and use has created a pleasantly smooth surface with partial erosion of the original etched designs. These heirloom pieces of silver jewellery were passed down through the generations as was custom amongst hill tribe peoples.
