I've had this fantastic guitar card by cindy_canada saved in my favorites for quite a while: www.splitcoaststa... Here's my version, and I'll share how I did it. I needed a template, because I'm no good at free-handing a design. I found this photo of an acoustic guitar on the Internet: I copied the picture into WORD and sized it to 5 1/2 inches tall (the finished card is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2), using the mirror image option so the complete curve is on the right. That gave me the card shape template. The original photo orientation was used to create the template for the curved shape (pick guard). I used Nestabilities Labels 2 to make the bottom shape (bridge), using the third largest die, which most closely matched the size of the photo's image. The center circle is the 1 3/4 inch punch. For the other two circles I used Nestabilities, the #4 die from the small and large circles sets. Marigold Morning cardstock (5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) was stamped with the Weathered Wood backgrounder using Apricot Appeal ink, then sponged with Dusty Durango and Really Rust. I used the card shape template to draw a pencil line for placement of the parts images. The small portion of the "neck" showing at the top of the card is a piece of Really Rust cardstock (1 1/8 inch wide and about 1 inch high) stamped with Chocolate Chip ink using the same Weathered Wood backgrounder, and also sponged with Chocolate Chip. The "frets" were created with a silver gel pen, 1/4 inch apart. The strings are gold cord (I used 10 inch lengths to allow for the cursed fraying it's prone to do) and gold brads are used for the bridge pins. For placement I used my trusty piercing template and tool - the brads are 1/4 inch apart, and the top of the neck is notched 3/16 inches apart using a piercing tool to hold the cord in place. The ends of the gold cord are taped to the back of the Marigold Morning cardstock layer, which was then adhered over the front of a black card base (I used Mono Multi Adhesive). The right side curve was then trimmed along the pencil line and finished off with more sponging.
