Art Deco 1920s Flapper Dress Silk Chiffon & Silk Velvet Ruffles
This charming c.1920 dress is made of handmade Irish crochet lace. It's a sleeveless tunic style flaring out toward the bottom. The crochet starts with a small allover pattern at the top of the dress and gets larger with the added dimension toward the bottom. Tulle inserts circle the dress at about hip height. The scalloped hem is decorated with a delicate ruffle of fine tulle. The color is light ecru. 14" across shoulders, 34" bust, 38" hip, 40" long from back of neck to hem.

The unique unstructured style is strikingly modern yet the abundance of silk-taffeta cutwork and handmade white irish-crochet is a treasure trove of antique needle art. The bodice has the most amazing low-cut plunge illusion winged sleeves design. The back is just as fabulous as the front with its row of mock covered-buttons and waist-bow.
