Faberge Eggs are a thing of beauty, meticulously crafted with the utmost care. They were the creation of a man named Peter Karl Fabergé, and because of his beautiful masterpieces, he would become one of most famous goldsmiths of his time.

Tsarevich Nicholas Alexandrovich (future Nicholas II) Romanov with his fiancé Princess Alix of Hesse (infamous Alexandra Fyodorovna) after their engagement in 1894. The other pair is Alix´s brother Ernest of Hesse with his newlywed wife Princess Victoria Melita of Edinburgh. Whil Nicky and Alix remained faithful and loving all their lofes and died together in1918, Victoria divorced Ernst few years later.

The Winter Egg ---- considered by experts to be the most beautiful of all of the Faberge Eggs. Nicholas II had this made for 1913. The "surprise" inside is a basket of flowers to represent Spring.

The 'Gatchina Palace' Faberge Egg - made in 1901 for Tzar Nicholas. The egg opens to reveal a miniature gold replica of the palace at Gatchina (a village 30 miles sw of St Petersburg.)
