Gummo by Harmony Korine gives us a disturbing yet real look into the town he grew up in. Shocking, funny, sad, and strangely heartfelt, after getting through some of the scenes did I realize it is truly a beautiful film. There is something cherishing in this focus of an unseen America not familiar with cinema. Overlooked, but should be seen (by those who can stomach the disturbing).
