Salted Caramel Nutella Stuffed Double Chocolate Chip Cookies / Top with Cinnamon I topped mine with powdered sugar. They turned out really quite good. They didn't look as good as the pictures still were enjoyed! It took the full 10 min of cooking to get done in my oven and one batch made 20 good size cookies. - Caralee 1/19/14
House of Worth circa 1858 (Metropolitan Museum of Art) Lady Camille
Evening Dresses, Fashion, Art Nouveau, Charles Frederick Worth, House Of Worth, Evening Gowns, Art History, The Dresses, Metropolitan Museums
Gorgeous evening gown (1898-1900, Charles Frederick Worth). The fashionable reverse S-curve silhouette of the dress and the dramatic scroll pattern of the textile reflect the influence of the Art Nouveau movement. The striking graphic juxtaposition of the black velvet on an ivory satin ground creates the illusion of ironwork, with curving tendrils emphasizing the fashionable shape of the garment, reminiscent of the wrought iron fences and banisters - popular Paris architecture at the time.
House of Worth: Evening dress ca. 1898-1900 Medium: silk. A superb example of dressmaking from the House of Worth, this dress exhibits the aesthetic of the last years of the nineteenth century. The fashionable reverse S-curve silhouette of the dress and the dramatic scroll pattern of the textile reflect the influence of the Art Nouveau movement. The striking graphic juxtaposition of the black velvet on an ivory satin ground creates the illusion of ironwork, with curving tendrils emphasizing the fashionable shape of the garment. In order to achieve this effect, the textile was woven a la disposition, with the intent that each piece would become a specific part of the dress. With this technique, the design of the fabric is intrinsic to the design of the dress. | Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History | The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Girl With a Book, by Pietro Antonio Rotari (1707 - 1762)

Pietro Antonio Rotari (1707 - 1762) was an Italian painter born in Verona. As a young man he studied under Antonio Balestra in Rome and Francesco Trevisani in Naples. Thereafter he returned to Verona where he set up his studio and continued to paint in the Baroque tradition.
Girl with a Book. Pietro Antonio Rotari (1707-1762). I love the subtly mischievous face, the clean lines and composition. The too-big pearl earrings are an in-your-face reminder that she is one of the very rich and pampered. And the texture on that book! I want to hold it, open it and smell that old-book smell, see what kind of sentimental poems or novel are inside. @@@Ordinary Women in Paintings http://es.pinterest.com/carolscheleur/ordinary-women-in-paintings/ @@@@
