Saraz Handpan F# Dorian
This 9 note Saraz is another tranquil and peaceful hexatonic variation of F# Dorian. Leaving out the minor third scale degree results in a savory hinting flavor of B major and B mixolydian.
Saraz Handpan Eb Minor 10
This 19" diameter Saraz has a 10 note hexatonic variation of Eb Minor. The top shell features a dreamy, soothing, and meandering pentatonic variation of the scale. The minor 3rd scale degree (Gb4) is on the bottom shell of the instrument and offers a bit more traditional minor darkness. Also on the bottom shell is a 3rd octave (Eb5), which adds high end resolve.
Saraz Handpan C Minor 12
This is the first 12 note C minor that we have made in almost a year. The hexatonic scale leaves out the Bb note, which is the minor 7th scale degree. This variation hints at the tension of a harmonic minor however without the full level of suspense.
Saraz Handpan B Minor 11
This recently built Saraz is a driving and intense hexatonic variation of B minor that starts on the 5th scale degree of F#3 and leaves out the minor 7th (A). The hexatonic scale hints at an F# Akebono of traditional Japanese music especially if the E note is not played. The top shell of the instrument is also called the "Hokkaido" scale form by Pantheon Steel. The low G and high D bottom notes add significant suspense and tension to both the high end and low end.
Saraz Handpan Eb Minor 9
This is a 19" diameter Saraz with a 9 note hexatonic variation of Eb Minor. Leaving out the minor 6th scale degree (Cb), this is a celtic minor variation with an octave jump from the center Eb3 to the lowest side note on the top shell, an Eb4.
Saraz E Minor 8
This hexatonic E minor variation is also called the “Prodigal” scale by Pantheon Steel. It leaves out the 4th scale degree (A). This hexatonic scale form is also quite popular in tuned steel history as the D minor variation was called the "Integral" scale by Panart. We built this instrument for one of our favorite players and are quite excited to see what he does with it!
Saraz E Major 8
This is the first Saraz of 2017 with this sweet, jovial, and uplifting E Major layout. This hexatonic variation leaves out the Major 7th scale degree (D#).
Saraz Handpan B Minor 12
This is our first 12 note variation of B Minor with the low B2 center note. The hexatonic scale leaves out the A note, which is the minor 6th scale degree. This variation hints at the tension of a harmonic minor scale but without the full suspense.
Saraz G Major 8
I believe this is the first G Major Saraz with this 8 note hexitonic variation, which feels peaceful, uplifting and optimistic. We sold this G major Saraz last week as a flash sale on our website
Saraz F# Dorian 9
This 9 note Saraz is another tranquil and peaceful variation of F# Dorian with a savory flavor of B major and B mixolydian.
Saraz Handpan C Harmonic Minor 9
This G Phrygian (also called C Harmonic Minor, , D Tarznauyn and C Hijaz) is the first we have built in awhile. This hexatonic variation leaves out the 6th scale degree (Eb) resulting in a rather major and uplifting low end while still maintaining the spicy harmonic minor flavor on the high end.
