I recently learned that Costco started making its own wooden blocks that sell for only $27 per 64 blocks. A comparable 60 piece set from Discount School supply sells for 42 dollars. This is a picture of the Costco product. It's recommended that each classroom have at least 150-200 wooden blocks of various sizes to support complex block work(Chalufour & Worth, 2004).

Make your own road sign. The teacher-Gabby Gustafson- provided cutout pictures of real signs, stencils, markers, and paper. She could also provide popsicle sticks and glue or tape to help children make signs to use in the Block Center.
