Girl Scouts -How to Make Simple Situpons (sit-upons) using vinyl table cloths via lilblueboo.com #girlscouts #diy I still have my sit-upon from when I was a child. Use it all the time for impromptu play at the park. Great as it folds small enough to put in my handbag. We made them only out of denim-type fabric.
Love this! "Sit upons" using vinyl table cloths and ribbon scraps. Fun for summer activities! Reminds me of when I was little in Girl Scouts, only not brown and slightly ugly. Would be way better than a picnic blanket because we all would have our own.
Simple Round Situpons (Sit-Upons) from Vinyl Tablecloth
Sit-upons we made out of 12" X 18" plastic bubble mailers and duct tape. We stuffed them with plastic grocery bags. The bubble mailers were about $2 each and for 13 of them we went through almost $40 in duct tape. Which is a lot of money we didn't know what we were getting into. :) We took them with us to Girl Scout Camp and they worked great!

Sit-upons. Use 1 plastic grocery bag, 1-3 newspapers (depending on how thick they are) & Duct Tape. 1. Cut handles off bag. 2. Put newspapers in bag. 3.Fold the open seam as far down as possible & tape it. 4.Fold the sides of the bag as far in as possible. 5. Tape them. 6. Start taping in rows on the front & back of the seat. 7.Tape the edges. It looks nice if you do an opposite color or pattern. We made a strap out of duct tape to attach to our bags for hiking. Great recycling project.

Vinyl bag situpon
Sit-Upon~ This is so much easier than the old way of making a sit upon! girl scout camping craft
We used picnic table cloths. We turned them wrong side out (so you can see the fuzzy part), and sewed them almost all the way around with the sewing machine. Then we flipped them so the waterproof side is out, and finished by sewing up the hole. No added padding. They fold up small, and hold up great.

Nicole at Home: Sit-upon what?
How to Make a sit-upon- we used to make these in girls scouts, but we used a plastic cover over them so they would not get wet
1 square foam seat cushion (2" thick); duck tape; scissors. Cover the foam square (including sides) with over-lapping strips of tape. Cut out shapes or letters from Duck tape to personalize. To create strap, lay a long strip of tape on a clean counter, sticky side up. Lay another piece of tape, the same length, on top so no adhesive is exposed. Trim any excess adhesive. Repeat until you have 3 strips & braid together. Attach both ends of the strap with Duck tape onto 2 corners of the sit-upon.
