Comfort Dogs come from Chicago to Newton, CT. Comfort Dogs program has 60 dogs in six different states that travel to comfort people in light of national tragedy, but also those in the hospital and nursing homes. According to an article in National Geographic, research has found that dogs used such a way can help patients feel less lonely. A recent study has also shown that dogs might be able to sense when someone is in need of comfort.

Ilene Woods, the voice of Cinderella, died on July 1, 2010, at age 81, from causes related to Alzheimer’s disease. Towards the end of her life, she did not recognize a lot of what was going on around her, and did not remember that she had been the voice of Cinderella, but her nurses found that she was most comforted by “A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” so they played it for her as often as possible.
