Amongst the tattoos of animals and birds, the eagle was very widely used. The meaning of this Aztec symbol was power, strength and courage. These attributes were attached to eagles due to their amazing flying skills, large size and strong nature. A tattoo of an Aztec eagle was, therefore, often found on Aztec warriors. As an Aztec warrior is said to draw his strength from an eagle for its strength, aggressiveness and competitiveness.

Patricia Michael's Taos Pueblo Photo. Very beautiful place.
Taos Pueblo (or Pueblo de Taos) is an ancient pueblo belonging to a Taos (Northern Tiwa) speaking Native American tribe of Pueblo people. It is approximately 1000 years old and lies about 1 mile north of the modern city of Taos, New Mexico. They are considered to be the oldest continuously inhabited communities in the United States. The pueblo was designated a National Historic Landmark on October 9, 1960, and in 1992 became a World Heritage Site.
August 10, 1680 - The Pueblo Revolt of 1680, or Popé's Rebellion, was an uprising of most of the Pueblo Indians against the Spanish settlers in the province of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, present day New Mexico. The Pueblo killed 400 Spanish and drove the remaining 2,000 settlers out of the province. Twelve years later the Spanish returned and were able to reoccupy New Mexico with little opposition.
Pueblos are American Indian settlements, consisting of multistoried adobe houses built by the Pueblo people.

The Canyon de Chelly was home to the ancient Pueblo Native American tribe, and is currently located within Navajo nation. The ancient Pueblo peoples used the solstices as a time for ceremony. During the summer solstice, the encouraged the sun to stay in the northern sky for as long as possible so that they may have a good crop yield. During the winter solstice, they would implore the sun to turn around and make its way north again.

Ait Benhaddou, Morocco - Aït Benhaddouis a 'fortified city', or ksar, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present-day Morocco. It is situated in Souss-Massa-Draâ on a hill along the Ounila River and is known for its kasbahs, although they take damage with each rainstorm. Most of the town's inhabitants now live in a more modern village at the other side of the river; however, ten families still live within the ksar.
