Reelfoot Lake was formed during the New Madrid Earthquake 2-7-1812. Several eye witnesses reported that the Mississippi River flowed backwards for several hours filling the lake. It is located in Lake & Obion Counties near Tiptonville, Tennessee. Reelfoot is noted for it's cypress trees and the bald eagles.
