I'm a big fan of this breakdown on Santa. I appreciated the idea behind Santa as a child, but this letter from a child's parents just smashes the nail on the head for me. I dislike the idea of "robbing" the magic of Christmas from my children with "the truth", but with a message like this I don't feel as though I have to anymore. Awesome.
scheduling helps take the WHINE out of the WHETHER....whether or not kids can watch mindless tv and play addicting video games ad infinitum....they know what's expected and can use their scheduled time for creative play, age appropriate chores, etc.
chore chart--kinda. a good jar and a bad jar. one earns tokens to redeem for awesome crap...the other gets a stick when they are naughty (or whiny...or fighting..or disobey) and it has a chore on it. my house is going to get so cleaned.
magnetic chore board for kids (spray-painted cookie sheet) Love ours painted really cute and made cute tiles on the computer for the chores which I laminated and glued on magnets. Has a token reward and consequence system that goes along with it.
Cards for Media time, chores and a list of special chores for $. I need this, with 3 kids who seem to think video games and computer games and TV are their right, they need to learn that its a privilege.
